My Own Football World Cup - Day 5 - 24 Nov 2022

Historic Day for me! I am going to watch two World Cup matches on the same day in different stadiums which are just few kilometers apart.

Match 1 : Switzerland Vs Cameroon ( 1-0) 

Stadium : Al Janoub Stadium at Al Wakra. The stadium is build in the shape of a  traditional dhow.

Match 2 : Portugal Vs Ghana (3-2)

Stadium : 974 Stadium. ( This stadium, which will be eventually dismantled after the World Cup,  has been built by assembling 974 shipping containers. Named after the country code for Qatar-974!

And I am going to watch my own GOAT and Hero, CR7 Live on a World Cup Match. (I have had seen him play earlier for  a club match in Dubai too) 

I must say, there have been some scary moments for Portugal, and they escaped with 3-2. CR7 being replaced at the 65 minutes was an indication of what's coming for him in the remaining matches.

1976 ജൂൺ 11. കൃത്യം അമ്പത് വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപ്, ഇതുപോലെ ഒരു ജൂൺ 11-നായിരുന്നു നമ്മുടെ "ശുഭ" വീടിൻ്റെ ഗൃഹപ്രവേശം!   വാടക വീട്ടിലെ പരിമിതികളിൽ നിന്നും പണിതീരാത്ത ഒരു ഒറ്റമുറിയിലേക്ക്, മഴ മാറി നിന്ന ഒരു ഇടവമാസ പുലരിയിൽ,  ഒക്കത്തൊരു നിറകുടവുമായി, നീല സാരിയുടുത്ത്, ശുഭപ്രതീക്ഷകളുടെ ഭാവിയിലേക്ക് അമ്മ വലതുകാൽ വെച്ചുകയറിയ ആ സുദിനം!  അന്ന്, മുറ്റത്ത് അമ്മയ്ക്കും അച്ഛനും കൂട്ടായി ഒരുപാട് സഹപ്രവർത്തകരായ മാഷന്മാരും ടീച്ചർമാരുമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പിരായിരിയിലെ വേണു മാഷ്, നാരായണൻ മാഷ്, രാജൻ പാലക്കാട്, നമ്പ്യാർ മാഷ്, വേലായുധൻ മാഷ്, ചില രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാക്കന്മാർ, പിന്നെ പ്യൂൺ സുന്ദരേട്ടൻ... ഓർമ്മയിൽ തെളിയുന്ന മുഖങ്ങൾ ഇവരൊക്കെയാണ്. ഇന്ന് നീണ്ട അരനൂറ്റാണ്ട് പിന്നിടുമ്പോൾ, നമ്മളോടൊപ്പം വളർന്ന നമ്മുടെ ഈ വീടിനും കാണും ഒരുപാട് ചരിത്രങ്ങളും ഓർമ്മകളും പറയാൻ...!  1973-76 കാലഘട്ടം...! നവക്കോടിലെ ‘കേരള കാപ്പി’ (കുഞ്ചത്ത) ലൈൻ വീട്ടിൽ വാടകയ്ക്ക് താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന കാലം.  താഴേക്കോട്ടിലെ തറവാട്ടിലെ വലിയേച്ചിയായ കമലചേച്ചിയും കൂടെ ഉണ്ട്! ആകെയുള്ളത് ഒരു മുറിയും അടുക്കളയും പിന്നെ വരാന്തയും മാത്രം! മുൻവശത്ത...

  89 Class Artificers and the ‘Get-Together Saga’ 2024 -Araku Get-Together  Araku Valley, around 100 km away from Visakhapatnam was identified as the unanimous choice for the get-together location. Most 89er has personal connections with this port city of Vizag, which is also the Head Quarters of the Eastern Naval Command, Indian Navy. The city also hosts the Indian Navy’s Shipwright School through which the 89 SWAs have completed their ‘rigorous’ Apprenticeship training.  Everyone will initially check in at Vizag by the Aug 30th morning, and then travel to Araku, together on a bus! As the get-together week approaches, more updates start pouring in from all over. Programme itineraries are chalked out; Dates and times are fixed after consulting with everyone; if there are differences of opinions, majority decision is democratically chosen through polling.   89 Class Artificers and the ‘Get-Together Saga’ - Part 4 - Growing Memories 31 Aug – 2 nd Day! Woke up early, thanks to Sanjay Prasad Gairola’s relentless calls. With a slight drizzle, it was a perfect time for a morning walk and explore the countryside of Arakku neighborhood. After a roadside morning coffee, we, along with PB Sushildas, walked across the railway line  to the paddy fields, soaked in the morning freshness and breathed some pure air. The day was going to be filled with hectic activities as per the plans. After the typically relishing Andhra breakfast with idli, sambhar, chutney vada and pongal everyone started gathering in the dining and reception area, wearing the newly designed personalized T shirts and 89 shorts.
